Games

Age Groups for all events are: 50 – 54; 55-59; 60 – 64; 65-69; 70 – 74; 75-79; 80 – 84; 85-89; 90+.  Determined as of December 31, 2019.

Basketball Around the World – Men and Women

Men’s Around the World | Men 50+ Shoot 3 shots per shooting location (5 shooting locations around 3pt line) each person gets 3 shots per location. Scoring is based on number of baskets made. In event of a tie a shoot off will be done.

Women’s Around the World | Women 50+ Shoot 3 shots per shooting location (5 shooting locations around 3pt line) each person gets 3 shots per location. Scoring is based on number of baskets made. In event of a tie a shoot off will be done.

Free Throw –  Men and Women

Men’s Free Throw | Men 50-69 – Best 25 Shots from Standard Free Throw Line (15ft); Men 70+ – Best of 25 shots from adjusted 11ft free throw line.

Women’s Free Throw | Women 50-59 – Best of 25 Shots from Standard Free Throw Line (15ft); Women 60+ – Best of 25 shots from adjusted 11ft free throw line.

Men: 50-74 will play two 15 minute halves, score to 21 wins. Each team will consist of 3 players on court and no more than 8 players on team roster. 75+ will play two 12-minute halves; team clothing must be of like design and color. 50-59,60-69 etc. age divisions. Each player must pay a $25.00 registration fee. Only the Team Captain will pay the team fee of $ 80.00.

Women: 50-74 will play two 15 minute halves, score to 21 wins. Billiards – Men, Women & Mixed

Double elimination “8” Ball tournament.

Bowling – Singles Men and Women, Doubles Men and Women,  & Mixed Doubles

Tournament format will be scratch scores. Each participant will bowl one series of three games with a final total score determining place within age category. Partner must register at same time, Fee is per bowler

Cycling – Men and Women

5K and 10K time trials 20K. Cyclists must provide their own bicycles and helmets, which must be certified by race officials prior to competition. All events will have a recumbent category. No aero bars on the road race. Numbers will be distributed at event check-in. For more information please contact

Dominoes – Men, Women & Mixed

Type of Dominoes Used: Double 6 (Straight Dominoes)

Age Groups: 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and older.
Competition location will provide the dominoes and the stop watches.
Scoring: Matches are 2 out of 3 games to 150 points.

Forty-Two (42) – No separate Men & Women divisions.

Age Groups: 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and older. The two persons who start as partners will play as such for all games. The tournament will be progressive play. “Nel-o” (“Low Boy”), “Plunge”, or “Seven” will not be played. All teams will play through end of tournament.

Golf – Men and Women (additional $25 fee apply)

Golfers must provide their own clubs. 18 Holes of Scratch Play for athletes; range balls will be provided. The NTSG reserve the right to change the tournament format for any age division based on entry numbers, space restrictions or other circumstance. This includes but is not limited to tee times or a shotgun start.

In the event of a tie between 1st, 2nd or 3rd place the USGA tie-breaking procedure of matching scorecards will be implemented.

Horseshoes – singles/doubles Men, Women, Mixed doubles

Double elimination tournament. Women 50-74 will pitch a distance of 30 feet. Women 75+ will pitch a minimum distance of 20 feet. Men 50-69 will pitch a distance of 40 feet. Men 70+ will pitch a minimum distance of 30 feet. Shoes must be within 6 inches of the stake to score. A shoe that first strikes the ground outside the target area cannot be scored. Contestants may bring own “shoes”, or use the ones provided.

Pickleball – singles/doubles Men, Women, Mixed

Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Ball provided, players must provide own racquet. Doubles players must register with a partner. The first side scoring eleven points and  leading by a two-point margin wins. Double Elimination style play.

Swimming – Men and Women in following events:

  • Freestyle – 50, 100, 200, 500
  • Backstroke – 50, 100, 200,
  • Breaststroke – 50, 100, 200,
  • Butterfly – 50, 100,
  • IM – 100, 200
  • All swimming events will be timed finals; swimmers must provide their own suits, caps, goggles, towels, etc.

Table Tennis – singles/doubles Men, Women & Mixed

Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles competition. Balls will be provided. The number of entries will determine tournament format. Doubles Players must register with a partner.

Tennis – singles/doubles Men, Women & Mixed

Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles. Best 3 Sets with regular scoring. Balls will be provided. Doubles players must register with partner, if you enter more than one event, you may have to play multiple matches in one day.

Track & Field – Men and Women

Field Events: (competitors must provide own equipment.)

  • Discus
  • Shot Put
  • High Jump
  • Long Jump

Track Events:

  • 50 M
  • 100 M
  • 200 M
  • 400 M
  • 800 M
  • 1500 M
  • 1500 Power Walk

Washers – singles/doubles Men, Women & Mixed

Players will pitch their 4 washers (one at a time) toward the opposite board one at a time. Scoring is determined after both players have pitched all of their washers. Only 1 player may score per round but can score points for all washers that are closer than their opponents. (a round is when each player has thrown all 4 washers). Points will cancel meaning that if Player/Team A gets a 3 pointer and Team/Player B gets a 5 pointer then team B gets 2 points. The winner is the first team to reach 21 points. A Skunk can be called when the lead is 11-0 or a “Whitewash” can be called at 17-2.

Special Events:

Opening Ceremony and Athlete Social will be Friday evening at 6:30 PM at the Wichita Falls Parks & Recreation 50+ Zone.

Guests are welcome to both events.

Merchandise:  Additional event t-shirts will be available in a limited supply in all sizes (S, M, L, XL, XXL & XXXL) for $10 each.


National Senior Games Competition
The North Texas Senior Games is a local event under the umbrella of the National Senior Games Association. We are not a qualifying event for the 2021 National Senior Games to be held in Albuquerque. To qualify athletes must compete at an official state event. Many of which are open events to individuals not residing in the host state. The  State Senior Games Directory provides a listing of states that host qualifying senior games events sponsored by the NSGA.
