ELIGIBILITY: All athletes must be at least 50 years old. Competition age will be based on his/her age on Dec.31, 2018.
AGE CATEGORIES: Participants will compete in one of the following age categories for both individual and/or doubles: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90 and over. Team Sports are divided into the following brackets: 50-59, 60-69 and 70+. Partner and team groups will be determined by the age of the youngest partner/team member.
PROOF OF AGE: All athletes may be required to show proof of age during the North Texas Senior Games. Any athlete unable to prove age will be disqualified. Any individual on a team sport who is not of the minimum age or whose age is listed on the roster incorrectly and causes the team to play in the wrong age division will be disqualified.
RULES: All events will be conducted in accordance with both the Texas Senior Games Association Official Rules and the 2018 National Senior Games Association Rules unless otherwise specified.
SANCTIONING: Pickleball is NOT a sanctioned event. All track & field events will be a USATF sanctioned event and record attempts will be allowed if you notify the Event Coordinator by May 1, 2018 so necessary arrangements may be made.
QUALIFYING: The North Texas Senior Games is a local invitational event and does not qualify individuals to participate in the Texas State Senior Games or the National Senior Games. The 2018 Texas State Senior Games is scheduled for April 5-15, 2018 in San Antonio. For more information on the State Games, visit tsga.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
EQUIPMENT: Athletes are required to provide their own equipment, unless otherwise specified by sport.
INCLEMENT WEATHER/UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES: The North Texas Senior Games reserves the right to cancel any event due to insufficient registration, weather or events beyond their control. In the event of a venue change or cancelation, athletes will be notified by email or phone. Every effort will be made to contact athletes prior to the start of the event.
PHYSICAL CONDITION: It is recommended that athletes consult with their personal physician prior to this event. It is also recommended that athletes prepare and train accordingly.
HOW MANY SPORTS OR EVENTS CAN I ENTER? Athletes are encouraged to enter more than one event, as long as events are not held at conflicting times. Scheduling cannot be done to accommodate other events. You must be a member of a team to enter the team events; teams/doubles will not be assigned. It is your responsibility to be at each scheduled event in which you are registered. No refunds will be given if you miss a scheduled event due to participation in another event scheduled for the same day.
DOUBLES EVENTS: Athletes must have a partner to enter doubles events. During registration, you must enter your partners name when asked, doubles will not be assigned. Athletes may compete with only one partner per event.
Team Captains are responsible for submitting the team roster, and the individual member registration information forms together. Teams must submit the completed information to the team captain who in turn submits the team roster, enclosing all completed forms and fees. 3-on-3 Basketball teams have a limit of 6 team members; Athletes may compete with only one team per sport.
Team members that will be participating in ANY additional event(s), including Free Throw event, must also pay the full registration fee plus any event entry fees for each additional event.
RECEPTION: All participants and their guest are invited to attend the reception at the Sikes Lake Center, located behind the MSU Wellness Center by Sikes Lake., on Friday, May 18 at 5:30p.m. You do not need a ticket and you can pick up your packet if you have not already. There will be a food and other refreshments available, music and an open dance floor. We will have door prizes and encourage everyone to attend to meet your fellow competitors and event organizers.
ENTRY FEES and EVENT FEES must be paid in full and must accompany the entry form.
Refunds must be requested no later than May 10, 2018.
Medals will be awarded to first, second, and third place finalists at the end of each event. Medals not picked up at the designated game site may be picked up at the Ferguson Building Office 301D on the MSU campus no later than one month after the last game day. Medals may also be mailed with a request in writing accompanied by a check, payable to the North Texas Senior Games in the amount of $3.00 per medal for shipping, mailed to North Texas State Games, c/o Dr. Sandy Shawver, 3410 Taft Blvd. Ferguson Bldg., Wichita Falls, TX 76308
Results will be posted online no later than June 15, 2018.
